Straight answers on freight, tracking, and customs

No reassuring generalities. Published timelines, proactive status updates, and enough pricing detail to make a procurement decision.

— Transit & Tracking

What are your transit times by lane?

How does real-time tracking work?

UK–Europe road freight: 1–3 business days. UK–Asia FCL sea freight: 18–28 days depending on port pair. UK–North America air freight: 2–5 days. All times are published SLAs, not estimates.

Every shipment is assigned a tracking reference at collection. You receive milestone updates — departure, port arrival, customs clearance, final delivery — via email and through your client portal.

Do transit times include customs clearance?

Will I know if there is a delay before I ask?

Published lane SLAs assume standard clearance. If documentation is complete on departure, customs adds zero buffer. Delays caused by missing documentation are flagged within two hours of identification.

Yes. Our operations team monitors all active shipments and pushes status alerts the moment a delay is identified. You will not need to chase us for an update.

Can I get a firm delivery date at booking?

Is tracking available for multi-leg shipments?

Yes, for road and air shipments. Sea freight receives an ETA window at booking and a confirmed date once the vessel departs origin port. We do not quote dates we cannot stand behind.

Yes. Multi-modal and transhipment shipments are tracked across every leg under a single reference. You see the full journey, not just the final carrier segment.

— Customs & Warehousing

Do you handle customs clearance directly?

What warehousing options do you offer?

Yes. KALM manages customs declarations, duty calculations, and compliance documentation for both import and export across all lanes we operate. There is no third-party customs broker in the chain.

Short-term bonded storage, long-term contract warehousing, and pick-and-pack fulfilment are all available. Minimum storage term is one week; no upper limit on duration.

What documentation do I need to provide?

Where are your UK warehouse facilities?

Commercial invoice, packing list, and commodity HS codes are the minimum. For regulated goods, certificates of origin or licences may apply. Your account manager sends a document checklist at booking.

Our primary UK hub is logistics-corridor located with direct road access to Felixstowe, Tilbury, and Heathrow. Secondary storage is available in the Midlands for northward distribution.

Can you advise on import duty liability?

Is inventory visibility provided for stored goods?

Yes. We provide duty estimates by commodity and destination country at the quotation stage so you can factor landed cost accurately into procurement decisions.

Yes. All warehoused stock is logged in our WMS and visible through your client portal in real time. Stock movements, inbound receipts, and outbound dispatches are all timestamped.

— Pricing & Support

How is freight pricing structured?

Who is my point of contact once booked?

Pricing is all-in: origin handling, freight, destination handling, and customs fees are quoted together. There are no broker markups or hidden surcharges added after acceptance.

You are assigned a single account manager at the point of first booking. That person manages your shipments, answers queries, and escalates issues internally. You do not rotate through a call queue.

Do you offer volume or contract rates?

What are your support hours?

Operations support is available Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00 GMT. For active shipments in transit outside these hours, an on-call contact is provided at booking.

Yes. Clients with regular lane requirements receive contract rates reviewed quarterly. Volume thresholds for tiered pricing start at ten shipments per month on any single lane.

How quickly can I receive a quote?

Can I reach KALM before committing to a shipment?

Standard lane quotes are returned within four business hours. Complex multi-modal or project cargo quotes are returned within one business day with a full cost breakdown.

Yes. Use the contact form to describe your freight requirement and a member of the team will respond within one business day — no obligation, no sales script.

Still have a specific freight question?

Our operations team responds to direct enquiries within one business day. No sales script — just a clear answer and, if appropriate, a quote.
